It was fun, though I hesitate to say I liked it - moreso that I found it colorful and fast paced. I also appreciate you calling out Anne Hathaway's take on Andy, she was effervescent in a thinly drawn way that does make "adorkable" accurate tbh. And not at all a fan of the costuming. It wasn't offensive initially, but it got worse as the story progressed and did not say anything about the characters on a story or thematic level.
Terrific and sharp analysis as always. I appreciated drawing the lines between how these kind of reboots satisfy the same consumer desires as generative AI. It’s wild how much it’s infiltrated our artistic world in ways people don’t realize. I’ll admit I found the movie enjoyable for every single nostalgic reason you mentioned, but should it have been made? No. Was it good? Also no 😂
Totally agree. Thank you. I went. I would like those hours back.
