I've been trying to figure out why she doesn't work for me and this is exactly it! It feels like she and her team have been positioning her as a "main pop girl" without anything to back that statement up, which makes her whole thing feel very hollow.
i do not disagree but i am a tater tot LMAO sports car changed my brain chemistry... i am also someone who took it personally when ariana announced she would never officially drop fantasize hahaha there is nothing i enjoy more than pop fast food for my brain. i know it is bad but sometimes that mcchicken hits the spot
Think what you want about her music but who is anyone else to determine if her experiences - with life, love, breakups etc - are deep enough to warrant her angry, sad girl persona?
I feel like she may feel less ironic as her career progresses. I believe she is only 21 so perhaps with she may still be trying to find her individual personality in her artistry.
Tate McRae is a 'popular girl' pop star. She's mainstream, easy to digest, and wears outfits and sings songs that would be categorized as 'street wear' and 'pop music.' She fits easily into a category and is in fact trying to adhere to it instead of break out. The kids that snub you socially in high school and end up in nursing listen to her. I think that's the big appeal of pop people like Tate McRae and Gracie Abrams, they're not trying anything new. You can buy their look, listen to their music, without really thinking about your own relationship to it.
I mourn the singer-song writer she could have been I used to love her older unreleased songs and thought her lyrics were actually good but she’s just traded it pop music that doesn’t hit
THANK YOU for saying her voice is bad. I cannot stand it and have no idea how she has gotten this far as a singer or how she has so many fans who seem to be blind to it-- its terrible. she is incredibly pretty and a great dancer tho.
I gotta say, and hopefully this won’t be misconstrued, but this is why I fell into k-pop. K-pop allowed me, an overly introspective, lyrics-obsessed alt-folk fan who occasionally likes to shake her ass, to like pop music again. Because I can enjoy the spectacle and the beats but not get tripped up over lines that give me the ick.
tate mcrae feels like a fictional pop star in a straight to netflix movie
I listened to Sports Car and I could NOT take it seriously. Alexis Rose did it way better with “I’m a Lamborghini, I’m a hollywood star” 😂

“Which isn’t a bad thing! It’s okay, and I’m okay…with that.” I see whatca did there😉
I’d be curious to hear your thoughts on Addison Rae
I did review her EP a while ago, and I’ll probably give her album a listen when it comes out, so keep an eye out!
The saddest part of her mediocrity is she was truly one of the best dancers of her generation before she got more serious about music :/
purple lace bra!
I do have to give her that!

I completely agree. Look back at Sabrina's music from when she was Tate's age and you'll see she's not the same lyricist she is today.

Some one on Twitter said instead of eating she's eating nothing.
