This is a story old as time. Good vs Evil. Theological in nature, it is a story of redemption. Our Christ like protagonist, Rue, does not die in vain. Her murder sets in motion justice for the many who suffer at the hand of Alamo. I thought it was amazing! Kudos to Sam Levinson.
Performance wise though, I thought Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Alamo stole the season— even from Zendaya.
I also think something interesting about this season is it seemed designed to get the actors with star power and name recognition— specifically the non-mains (Rosalia, Marshawn Llynch, Coleman Domingo) moments to shine. As a casting person I like that element, it was fun to see the acting chops, but I think perhaps the overall writing and plot suffered a bit from that.
I had a feeling that her death was always the goal based on her narration throughout the seasons but I don’t think it was supposed to be like this.
This season was such a mess and I personally don’t think Levison is as creative and groundbreaking as he thinks he is. But I also understand why this season happened the way it did because Z and Elordi didn’t want to work for him anymore.
Roh huge spoiler in title my god. Should be forbidden.
i mean, look at their username
I’ve really loved all ur essays on this but ouch this spoiler in the title
My apologies, I meant to change it before I posted and forgot.
Beautiful piece but you just spoilt the movie for me, I haven't watched it yet. 😭
It's hard to rate an analysis of a season I haven't watched, but I will say that this is so thorough that I no longer feel a desire to watch it at all
Wtf spoiler cmon
